Squirrel Creek: Our New HOME

We’ll Take it Along…
Our Vision

At a time when so many seek sanctuary and sanity, our vision is to create an active, welcoming community hub where we can fully live our mission, attract new members of all ages, support one another, offer space to local organizations that share our values, and continue to courageously seek, explore, and serve.

Meeting the Moment

“This community has invited me to take risks that have led to personal growth, from learning how to confront white supremacy culture to playing cello in public. I never would have imagined that I would sing in a choir or participate in phone banking or protest at an ICE detention center.”
~Lindsay Dunckel
“UUCM helped raise our two children. They have been mentored here, formed friendships, and had leadership opportunities that have shaped who they are today.”
~Randy McKean

“I was looking for a place where integrity and dignity are valued. My very first time here, I felt connected. I fell safe here. I feel included. I am among like-minded people who believe in the dignity of all human beings.”
~Viv Tipton
FAQs
Why Move?
Our building on South Church Street—with its modest size, lack of outdoor space, inaccessible classrooms, and onexistent parking—had become a barrier to growth.
Why
Squirrel Creek?
The Squirrel Creek campus offers us a rare opportunity. It is a large, accessible facility set among mature trees in a quiet neighborhood.
It includes a spacious sanctuary, generous meeting spaces, multiple classrooms, convenient parking, a large kitchen, and acres of outdoor space.
Will it
Work
for
UUCM?
YES. The members of our Facilities Exploration Committee and Board undertook what Board President Carol Richey termed a “heroic level of work” to investigate all aspects of a possible purchase—and to keep the congregation well informed. On December 7, 2025 the congregation voted overwhelmingly to buy the property.
When?
We plan to move in by early summer 2026.
Future
Up-Grades
Our goal is to occupy the building for a year to get to know it, experience how we use it, and then prioritize the most impactful changes. Teams dedicated to improving the building and land are taking suggestions. Whenever possible we will try to satisfy the majority viewpoints.
