Combat Voter Suppression
Join UUCM “Get-Out- the- Vote Postcard Campaign”

Use your pens to help defend democracy in state and federal elections. YOU can make a difference!
Join the UUCM Bending the Arc Taskforce in sending out postcards to voteres of color in states that have enacted voter suppression laws or policies.
The best way to help is to join our postcard club. Members send a minimum of 20 postcards per month during a designated election cycle.
Current Postcard Campaign
On July 27, UUCM will launch the next Reclaim Our Vote (ROV) postcard campaign in a nationwide effort to reach over 940,00 registered black voters in Virginia, a bellwether state for the 2026 midterms.
To understand the impact of ROV postcarding, the historic comparison shows that “likely African-American” voters’ turnout in the 2024 primary was 16,992; in 2025 (after our ROV campaign) it was 44,374…more than double! Virginia has seen thousands of its citizens lose their jobs due to DOGE, and a 350% increase in immigrant arrests, more than any other state. Center for Common Ground/Reclaim Our Vote is one of the few national campaigns that works to turn out a group of voters that the opposition works overtime to suppress, because their vote makes a difference. To do this, CFCG purchases the data used to identify targeted voters.
How Does it Work?
The current campaign targets registered black voters in Virginia’s State General Election.
- Postcard writers have from July 27 – Oct 20 to write and mail their cards.
- UUCM (Unitarian Universalist Community of the Mountains) prepares packets of 20 addresses, stamps, cards, instructions, script, samples, etc.
- Writers who can are asked to reimburse UUCM $13 per packet. NOTE: because we don’t want the cost to keep anyone from joining the postcard campaign we have scholarships available for those who need financial help.

Frequently Asked Questions:
- Why should I join the club instead of just picking up individual packets?
- This lets us order and assemble adequate numbers of cards, addresses, stamps etc. needed to have packets ready to go when you need them.
- Who is organizing the postcard campaign?
- Reclaim Our Vote is a project of the Center for Common Ground, a non-partisan organization led by people of color. Their mission is to educate and empower under-represented voters in voter suppression states to engage in elections and advocate for their right to vote.
- How do I get packets?
- Club member packets are prepared in advance with your name on the packet & placed on a clearly marked table in the foyer of the Unitarian Universalist Community of the Mountains (UUCM 246 S Church St, GV.) Packets can be picked up Sunday mornings or during regular office hours (M-W-F 8:30am-5:00pm & T-Th 8:30am-12:30pm).
How to reimburse for the cost of packets
- Actual cost to assemble the packets is $13+.
- Club members commit to a certain number of packets in advance to help plan and to cut down on waste.
- Materials are ordered and then reimbursed, so it helps when club members pay up front.
- Three ways to pay
- Place cash with a note of amount and your name in the big jar on the postcard table
- Place a check made out to UUCM in the big jar on the postcard table (please specify “postcard club” in the memo line)
- Contribute online (via our secure payment processor, Vanco)
