At the end of May and into mid-June, we will invite the congregation to choose which community organizations to receive Share-the-Plate funds from Sunday collections.
Each person may choose up to 10 different organizations. You may vote using the form below or submit a paper ballot, available to pick up at Sunday services or in the office during regular office hours.
Here are the candidates for 2025-26. (The number after the organization’s name shows how many times in the past 5 years they have been a recipient of share-the-plate funds.)
- Animal Place (2) – Provides permanent sanctuary and adoption for farmed animals.
- Nevada Co. Veterinary Disaster Response Team (2) – Assists in the safe and prompt evacuation and shelter for domestic and farm animals in a disaster area.
- Wildlife Rehabilitation & Release (3) – Cares for injured and orphaned wildlife within Nevada County and surrounding areas.
- Bear Yuba Land Trust (3) – Protects and defends the lands in the Bear and Yuba River watersheds.
- Bright Futures for Youth (3) – Committed to addressing the ever-changing needs of youth, for 6th graders to those in their mid-20s.
- Child Advocates (4) – Offers the Healthy Babies program, Child Safety Puppeteers, and Court-Appointed Special Advocates (CASA).
- Citizens for Choice (5) – Provides comprehensive reproductive health services for the citizens of Nevada County.
- Color Me Human (5) – Works to dismantle systems of oppression within ourselves and within the institutions of Nevada County.
- Community Beyond Violence (5) – Offers services for building healthy relationships and services for healing the effects of interpersonal violence.
- FREED (0) – Foundation of Resources for Equality and Employment for the Disabled (FREED) promotes independence and self-determination for people with disabilities through person-driven services
- Habitat for Humanity (4) – Builds homes for families in need of decent and affordable housing.
- KARE Crisis Nursery (4) – Provides care and support to children and families through emergency child care and supervised visitations.
- Partners in English Language Learning (PiELL) (0) – Offers one-on-one language tutoring to help adult English language learners become thriving members of our community.
- Sierra Roots (5) – Operates a cold weather shelter and provides free lunches and other services year-round to homeless individuals.
- Sierra Streams Institute (4) – SSI is a watershed monitoring, research, and restoration program based in Nevada City.
Share the Plate Selection
1. Only members and friends are eligible to vote. 2. Vote for a maximum of 10 organizations (Interfaith Food Ministry and Hospitality House are pre-approved partners.) No multiple votes for any one organization. 3. You may vote for a maximum of 2 animal rights organizations. 4. You may vote electronically here, or fill out a paper ballot and place it in the office’s Justice team box or return it to the UUCM Administrator, no later than June 16.
